Individual Summer Residencies in Kopice July 2026 - call for applications!
Is there a project you would love to begin, but there is too much happening around you and there is no peace? Would you like to rest in beautiful nature, in a space organized by people, who understand creative processes, but are not fixated on productivity and efficiency? Is there space in your life for new contacts and inspiration, but you can't find a place where you feel at ease slowing down? Kopice Summer Residency might just be what you need, feel free to explore our call!
In the Summer Residency, we offer you a chance to come to a place, where nature is in charge, and we are its guests. Szczecin Lagoon area in North-Western Poland is not a popular tourist destination, which makes its ecosystem (still) very unique. Bird populations are one of the region’s greatest treasures. Coastal bike routes will help you access amazing locations. You can come and catch your breath, which in the currently tumultuous times may be very refreshing, meet similarly minded people and learn about permacultural ways of doing your work, life and body, on your own or in the company of others.
We are a group of creative workers, busy with changing the world by means of aesthetic investigations, experimenting and theory; a bunch of international artists, researchers, academics with some activist inclinations, building the New School in Kopice since 2023. Until now, we have basic field infrastructure and prospects for some new development, perhaps you will want to join us when you see it from closer? Our constant, umbrella topics are:
ecology/biology/permaculture/transforming culture. In 2026 we put special emphasis on three main themes:
- Alternative institutions of culture, collectivity: research, ideas, experiments
- Music (without PA system), acoustic music, instrument building, field recording;
- Landscaping: small architecture, infrastructure, sculptures in nature, gardening
You can apply for our Summer Residency at the New School grounds in Kopice village, where you can rest, work, research and/or spend time in the nature, meeting other creative people with similar interests. The individual residencies are available starting 13 July, till 31 July 2026; you can stay 7-10 days. Group residencies will be available in August 2026.
We offer a great nature retreat and spontaneous discussions, networking and collaborations with people of similar interests from around the world. Your work will forever become a part of our open park, we can also think of further ways of presenting it in the future. We provide basic camping facilities and a place for your tent, a small library, a studio tent to work together, a stage, outdoor kitchen, a small space for meetings and the presence of other creative people. We will help you organize a public event at the end of your stay / a guided tour, a concert, an opening, as well as further dissemination of your work via our website and social media, other forms of support are possible too.
We expect: We ask you to be open, respectful to the nature around you and to our neighbours. We will ask you to contribute a short text and sound or visual material to our online archive. Also - can you please donate a book to the School's library, one that inspired you? It will build our ongoing archive, and possibly inspire others!
Costs: Sliding scale, starting with 120 euro (for maintaining the facilities), 220 euro if you have a grant or scholarship to cover your stay, 300 euro if you feel very supportive and want to help us make this place even more resourceful.
Accommodation: Camping place with an outdoor kitchen, showers and toilet is provided, there are options for renting a room/summerhouse in Kopice, but this needs to be arranged in advance.
Infrastructure: small, but available. We have running water, electricity and wifi. We have a small stage that can host concerts and presentations.
Food: You can use the outdoor kitchen alone or with others - group cooking can be fun and a great occasion to discuss. There is no shop in Kopice, but we organize grocery shopping once every 3 days. Every day lunch will be provided by the local organization, and our ally, County Women Collective of Kopice.
Access: nearest airport, train and flixbus stop (eg. from Berlin) - Szczecin Goleniów. We can pick you up from there.

- DIY Technology (alternative use of technology? Politics of technology?)
You can apply for our Summer Residency at the New School grounds in Kopice village, where you can rest, work, research and/or spend time in the nature, meeting other creative people with similar interests. The Group Residencies take place in August 2026, we invite art collectives, researchers, architects, activists.
In summer 2026 we invite groups/collectives willing to use our facilities in a self-organized way, we can provide some basic support, but the daily activities will be done by you. You can apply as a group to spend one week at Nowa Szkola in Kopice for whatever purpose you need; to rest together, exchange, build projects, share knowledge, build, think or dance. You can work on a project, which you will make available for public in Kopice, in such case we need to agree upon the details, and decide how we can help you. If you will disseminate your project in other locations, we might want to decide together whether there is a way you can perhaps support us - by spreading the news about our residencies, making some contribution to our budget etc.
